Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health - Supply Disruption

Statement from Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health:

We regret to inform you that over the next few months, we are anticipating temporary interruptions in supply of certain Metacam® Oral presentations, along with Pexion® and Semintra®. The disruption in supply for these products is likely to be significant for veterinary practices in the UK & Ireland.

Covid-19 pandemic at our manufacturing site    

This situation is unfortunately due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic at one of our manufacturing sites, which is located in a region badly impacted by Covid-19.

Due to the local Covid-19 situation, the implementation of additional safety measures at the manufacturing site has become critical. These measures have resulted in a considerable reduction of workforce and consequentially, the output at our plant has been temporarily reduced, along with delays to the release of some products manufactured there. As a result, we anticipate that it will take a few months before we resume with normal supply levels.

We are working hard to restore supply

Animal health and welfare continues to be our key focus and we understand how important these products are for the animals under your care. Please know that we are actively and urgently pursuing all options available to achieve normalised supply and Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health in the UK is working closely with our colleagues at the manufacturing site to understand the impact of these delays so we can continue to proactively communicate with our customers to give as clear a picture as possible.

We have alerted our customers/vet practices to inform them of the situation and what they can do to manage the care of their patients. For example, for critical medications such as Pexion®, together with vets, we will prioritise patients with the greatest clinical need and are giving vets the support they need to do this.
