We
were very lucky to have built up a small group of companion animal clinics in
the east midlands alongside a wonderful, dedicated team over the past 20 years.
This followed stints working in mixed practice in the South West and in
industry for the Waltham Centre for Pet Nutrition. During the same period
an opportunity arose to buy and develop the St Francis veterinary buying group
which turned out to be a hugely rewarding and enjoyable role for me alongside
my work in the practices. Now that the group has found a new home with MWI I’ve
been involved with setting up the group’s clinical governance board to help
make sure that clinical factors are considered as part of the group’s decision
making process.
Currently
I’m working for IVC in their acquisitions team which has proved to be a steep
learning curve but a really enjoyable role in a fantastic team of people in
what remains an enormously busy and fast moving part of the industry.
Over
the past couple of years I’ve also become a trustee on the board of the Blue
Cross which is a fabulous charity dedicated to helping companion animals and
their owners. The charity focuses on providing veterinary interventions,
rehoming, education and a pet bereavement support service and does a fantastic
job. I’d never done anything like this before and I can highly recommend it to
everyone.
